Gabriola Auxiliary Drivers to Doctors Program
As we advance through the steps of getting back to our activities and programs, the Auxiliary must take into consideration the risk of Covid-19 transmission to our volunteers and their families.
We have emphasized that if our volunteers are uncomfortable volunteering where they normally do they should hold off for now.
This has resulted in some of our programs being reduced for the time being due to a reduced number of volunteers.
The Auxiliary is announcing a limited return to the Drivers to Doctors program on Gabriola only. ( June 23, 2020)
Enclosed cars add an extra element of risk especially for longer periods of time.
We ask that you try to get alternate rides to medical appointments on Gabriola.
You can also consider the Taxi Saver Program through PHC where you can get $60.00 worth of rider coupons for $30.00. Call 250-247-7311 for details.
If you can’t find anyone else you can call Marni at 250-713-8018 and she will try to get a driver.
Do not call us if you have systems of cold, flu or Covid!
Masks will be mandatory….no mask, no ride.
We appreciate your understanding and patience while we try to provide the services while protecting our volunteers, their families and our customers.
Take care, be safe.
The GABE shop Welcomes You!
GABE Shop - New Store Manager
The board has a new store manager, Rhonda Bruce.
Rhonda worked as a receptionist at the Haven. She was involved as a volunteer with GAC and other not for profit organization. We look forward to working with her once the store reopens.
The Gabriola Auxiliary for Island Health Care is looking for volunteers to work at The GABE Shop. Shifts are three hours and you can work once a week or once a month. No previous retail experience required, training provided. We are a pretty relaxed crew and like to laugh.
Come down to the shop and ask for Carol if you'd like to know more.
