Another successful Mother’s Day Tea for the Auxiliary raised over $500 for grants to island health initiatives.
A huge thanks to Village foods who donated all the food for the event and Gwen Smeets and Robert at his restaurant who donated desserts for our draw and Tara Qua who created cupcakes for the draw.
These scrumptious desserts were won by Anne Harrison, Dorothy Betts, Janet Graham, Jeannie Johns,Kit Szanto, Thelma Buitendyke, Carol Boyce, Heather Cameron and Jenn Feenan.
Door prizes were won by Hugh Brown, Tomas Jackson, Janet Graham, Ruth Loomis, Ashley Manning and Karen Burke.
Teacup readings by Brenda Fowler were a roaring success.




GAIHCS Student
Scholarship Recipient 2016
The Gabriola Auxiliary for Island Health Care Society's awarded their first scholarship in the amount of $1000.00 to Alexa De jong .
Alexa has been accepted at the University of Calgary where she will work toward a Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology with a possible further degree as a Physiotherapist.
The Auxiliary wishes her all the best in her endeavors.

Chuck Conner, President of the Gabriola Health Care Foundation, presented Nancy Nevison, President of the Gabriola Auxiliary for Island Health Care Society and other Auxiliary members with a plaque to be mounted on the bench in front of the Gabriola Community Health Centre. Brenda Fowler, VP & Secretary, and Nancy Nevison, President, The Gabriola Auxiliary for Island Health Care Society, presented a $7,000 cheque to Chuck Connor, President, Gabriola Health Care Foundation, to finish furnishing the examination rooms at the Gabriola Community Health Centre. The cheque was presented during the Nathan Tinkham Country Dance Auxiliary Fundraiser held at the Community Hall on September 28, 2013.
The proceeds from the Dance will support the Auxiliary's community health care programs, including Meals on Wheels, Lifeline Emergency Call Services, and Drivers to Doctors.

In December, 2012, the Gabriola Auxiliary donated $3,000 to the Gabriola Health Care Foundation toward the purchase of an Aaron Bovey Cautery Instrument for the new Gabriola Community Health Centre on Church Street. The Auxiliary commissioned author Bruce Mason to write a history of the new Gabriola Community Health Centre. .
